Church Field Update

Whilst regular updates on what is happening in the Church Field have appeared on different social media platforms, not everyone with an interest in the Field is signed up to Facebook or Nextdoor Edgmond. So, here is an update.
The Field is held by Trustees and is currently being managed by Edgmond Wildlife Group (EWG). In the last 18 months the Group has changed the mowing regime of the field to make it more wildlife friendly around the edges and more people friendly in the central area. The Field is open to anyone to come and enjoy this special place. An information board explaining what the EWG is hoping to achieve has been installed at the entrance. Two new gates have been made and installed. The Field is used for overflow parking for the Church, so the main gate is usually kept closed, the small gate should be left open at all times.
The Group has planted shrubs and is creating a meadow in the lower area. After much hard work preparing the ground the seeds for the meadow were sown a couple of days ago. In parallel with the meadow creation the Group has enlisted the help of residents to grow wildflower plants from seed. Over the weekend and the next few days these too will be planted to enhance one of the grassy edges of the field.
Thank you to all of the members of Edgmond Wildlife Group who have helped at every stage over the last few months. Big thanks to Mark and Scott at HAU, Garry and Richard from Edgmond Hall and all the members of our community who have helped and encouraged us along the way. Without your support none of this would have been possible.
