Protect Your Path!

LONGFORD TO EDGMOND VIA POND LANE

You may be surprised to learn that part of the path that connects Longford and Edgmond is not legally protected. The section from Longford Road that is shared by the drive to a private property is not designated as a Public Right of Way, despite the fact that this route has been walked by generations of local people.

This sort of anomaly is quite common and goes back to the rather haphazard way that the first Definitive Maps of Public Rights of Way were created.

In order to have the route fully legally protected and added to the Definitive Map I will make an application, with the support of The Ramblers, to Telford & Wrekin Council to make a Definitive Map Modification Order (DMMO) to add this path.

However, for this application to succeed I will need as many ‘Statements of Use’ of the path as possible. Please contact me if you or anyone you know has used this path at any time in the past. I will need to build up a picture of use over 20+ year, so recent usage is as important as historical use.

Please contact me and help me protect this path for the future. Thank you!
